Cross-Cultural Organizational Assessment

In this first paragraph, provide a summary of the intent of the assignment, specifically the expatriate organizations or industry of evaluation. This first paragraph should introduce the reader to the organization and briefly,

Current Organizational Readiness

This first sub_ section will address your current organization, then elaborate a bit on the organization’s domestic performance. You will likely write two-three paragraphs addressing the organization’s readiness to manage cross-cultural dynamics.

Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility

This is the first of several elements you will include, elaborate on the organization’s environmental and corporate social responsibility. This section of your essay may be two-three paragraphs, likely at least one full page if not a page and a half.

Culture in the Workplace

Examine and elaborate on the culture currently in the workplace of the organization you have identified for this assignment. This is the section to address those shared values, the organization’s belief system, what are the attitudes, and assumptions. This section will address the human capital and how the culture is driven by employees or the personnel, likely from the top down. Week 2 content will assist in this section.

Skills Needed for Cross-Cultural Decision-Making

This section will likely take a full page, perhaps a page and a half, consider what skills are important the leadership as well as the human capital when working cross-cultural and making decisions. Keep in mind cultural competence, behaviors, listening, engagement, empathy, check out Week 3 & 4 content.

Organizational and Control Systems

This section will likely be half to a full page, or two to four sound paragraphs addressing the organizational systems and the control systems. Check out the Week 5 Organizational Structure and Control Systems Content tab. This area of the content will help you focus on these two criteria you will elaborate a bit more in the next two paragraphs.

Further, this section of your analysis will address the organization and how the organizational system must accommodate the evolution of internationalization, likely to address the boom in competition. Keep in mind the diversification necessary to maximize benefits from both the domestic and global operations.

Role of Cross-Cultural Management

This will be the section of likely four paragraphs connecting and weaving together former sections, the environment and corporate social responsibility, the culture, skills needed, and organizational and control systems together. Each of these elements contribute to the cross-cultural management. In the Weeks 6 & 7 Content you will discover specifics, applying or using the organization you chose initially for this assignment will drive each of these former sections along to this cross-cultural management.

Conclusion

Begin to summarize the main points of your essay in three to five sentences. The conclusion of your paper should re-phrase the points of what your reader should be left remembering, nothing new, concise, and to the point. Before submitting your work be sure to proofread, omit any of my formatting prompts (usually left in red), and be sure to personalize your essay by paying attention to detail and consider letting your final work cool overnight before you proofread one more time and submit. One final tip, read the lead paragraph and then this conclusion – be sure these two bookends make sense, what you initially introduced to your reader should be reiterated as the reader concludes the work, what you want the reader to remember.

Instructions

You will conduct an organizational global readiness for your organization or one you are interested in working for.  You will include and/or assess the following:

1. Organizational background, structure, and control systems

2. Environmental scan of both the internal and external environment for  only items that would have a major impact on the organization’s ability to operate globally.  This does not need to be an exhaustive list but demonstrate your knowledge and ability to apply the concepts.

3. Corporate social responsibility, both globally and domestically because often the domestic approaches are reflected in the global approaches. 

4. Organization’s cross-cultural competence

5. Expatriate Readiness

a. Source and availability of global staff (e.g. expatriates, home country nationals, and third country nationals)

b. Support provided to expatriate and/or their family, for example: 

i. Career management for expatriate

ii. Familial needs and readiness, i.e., spouse and family

iii. Repatriation of expatriate and family if accompanying

6. Management concerns with managing and leading global teams etc.

7. Summary and Recommendations

· Your paper should be a minimum of 8 pages in APA format (excluding title page and references) but encouraged use the number of pages needed to complete your assignment and address each of the elements effectively.  To assist you in developing your assignment, you might find the attached template helpful. 

· DO NOT include an abstract

· Submit your work as an  MS WORD ATTACHMENT ONLY in either a .doc, .docx, or .rtf format.

· Please use 3rd person; however, you can use first-person perspective where applicable and appropriate, i.e. describing your own role, distinguishing from your point of view and others, or writing is reflective or contains personal elements.

· Do not forget to incorporate conceptual discussion when appropriate. 

· You will use subheadings. A subheading reflects the content that follows. Subheadings provide a point of reference for the reader as well as guide the reader through your paper.   If you do not have a clear thesis or your introduction is a bit complicated, the reader spends time guessing and is unclear as to what they are reading and why.
