Course Description
This course covers basic concepts in biostatistics. Various research methodologies and data collection procedures are analyzed. The meaning of
specific biostatistical tests, how to detect patterns in data, and how to judge the validity and reliability of the data are explored. Specific applications
for the DNP are examined. Furthermore, in this course, the students will be given the opportunity to tie their practice problem choice with an
annotated bibliography & explore explore epidemiologic determinants.
Course Level Student Learning Outcomes (CLSLO’s)
Summarize scientific knowledge to determine the nature and significance of a clinical problem at the microsystem level.
Distinguish the roles and relationships between epidemiology and biostatistics in the prevention of disease and the improvement of health.
Assimilate principles of epidemiology with scientific data necessary for epidemiologic intervention and draw appropriate inferences from
epidemiologic data.
