Purpose of the Assessment The purpose of the assessment is to determine competency in the unit BSBSUS511 – Develop workplace policies and procedures for sustainability.

Context and Conditions for Assessment To comply with the assessment conditions of this unit:  You must demonstrate adequate skills and knowledge evidence by providing a satisfactory

outcome for each assessment task. You will be marked against the recommended model answers in the Trainer and Assessor guide.

 You will have access to suitable facilities, equipment and resources, including template documentation, e.g., Policy Scope Statement template, Meeting minutes’ template, Communication Plan template etc. to undertake the assessment tasks for this unit of competency.

 ASOC will conduct the practical assessment for this unit in its classroom located at Level 4, 123 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.

 Knowledge assessment for this unit will be conducted at the ASOC classroom at the location identified on the timetable.

 All ASOC Assessors of this unit must satisfy the requirements for assessors in applicable vocational education and training legislation, frameworks and/or standards.

Assessment Tasks To achieve competency in this unit, you must satisfactorily complete all the following assessment tasks within the date and time specified in the session plan. Task 2.3: Resource Acquisition Log

This task requires you to prepare a Resource Acquisition Log that outlines all the resources required to implement the activity identified in the Sustainability Policy Implementation Plan template in Task 2.2. In this assessment task, you must:  Prepare a Resource Acquisition Log that you will use to obtain or access all resources used to

implement the sustainability policy in Bounce Fitness as a simulated workplace.  Use the Task 2.3 Resource Acquisition Log Template provided and:

Task 2.4: Sustainability Policy Communication Plan

This task requires you to create a communication plan to support the implementation of the new policy developed in Task 2.2 In this assessment task, you must:  Create a communication plan that will be used to support the implementation of the new

policy in the workplace. This will be used with the sustainability policy implementation plan developed in Task 2.2

 Use the Task 2.4 Communication Plan template provided and identify the following in the communication plan template:

– At least one activity to be undertaken as identified in the Policy Implementation Plan template.

– Stakeholders (individuals or groups) affected by the implementation of the selected activity. This must be based on the Policy Scope Statement.

– Key personnel responsible for the implementation of this activity. – Information to be communicated to stakeholders to implement the activity via email

successfully. – Communication method to be used (Face-to-face, email, flyer) – Frequency of communication

 Leave the ‘Status Update’ column blank in the Task 2.4 Communication Plan template. This will be accomplished during the implementation of the activity in Task 2.5.

 Consult with the key personnel , one (1) individual (can be the stakeholder used for the previous tasks) to confirm details of the implementation plan and the draft communication plan through an email.

 Submit the partially completed communication plan to the assessor and evidence of consultation with the key personnel to confirm the implementation plan's details and the draft communication plan via email correspondence.

Task 2.5: Implement Policy and Track for Improvements

This task requires you to implement the policy and procedure in Bounce Fitness by referring the Sustainability Policy Implementation plan and Communication Plan in Task 2.2 and 2.4 respectively. In this assessment task, you must:  Implement the sustainability policy in Bounce Fitness based on the Sustainability Policy

Implementation plan and: – Monitor areas of improvement from the policy using established recording systems. – Accomplish the Sustainability Policy Implementation plan template and

Communication plan template completed in task 2.2 and Task 2.4. respectively.  Develop two (2) recording systems to enter the monitored data of the sustainability activity.

This includes but is not limited to: – Documents or templates as identified in their Sustainability policy and procedures

– Using Bounce Fitness as a simulated workplace, ask two (2) individuals (other students chosen by the assessor) to implement the activity.

– Each recording system must show dates/timelines when the activity was implemented and monitored.

 Record the following in information as part of tracking improvements: – Result of the implementation done against the target KPI in the implementation plan. – Areas of improvement in the policy based on the actual outcomes of the

implementation.  Submit the following as evidence of the implementation of the sustainability policy in Bounce

Fitness as a simulated workplace. This will include: – Email sent to key personnel/stakeholders to start implementation of the activity. – Relevant reports accessed to track the logs with the recording systems (e.g., purchase

receipts) – Completed Sustainability Policy Implementation plan from task 2.2. – Completed Communication Plan template from Task 2.4.

This task requires you to communicate the outcomes of the Policy Implementation and the identified trends which were monitored to the relevant personnel and key stakeholders. In this assessment task, you must:  Communicate the outcomes of sustainability policy implementation to key personnel and

stakeholders.  Access and review the completed Policy Implementation plan template and Communication

plan template that you have developed.  Identify at least two trends from the following that require immediate action. Trends are patterns that generally appear in the recorded data/information. These can be qualitative or quantitative data and can be identified by reviewing the recording systems and relevant reports used to track the policy’s KPIs.

– You have been getting reports about an employee (Dan). He has been using more than required printing paper to print his documents. You are required to monitor this trend, followed by Dan and provide remedial action.

– You have realised that Rita has been leaving the cabin lights on, resulting in wastage of resource at the end of the shift. You are required to monitor this trend and provide remedial action

 Communicate the outcomes of the policy implementation and its trends to the following: – Key personnel identified in the Policy and Procedures template – At least two key stakeholders of the policy and procedures (Stakeholders used during

procedure developed in Task 1.2  Using Bounce Fitness as the simulated workplace, locate and review the Purchasing Policy

again. Assume that these policies Do NOT contain information for evaluating suppliers on their sustainability credentials. Hence, you must prepare a revised version of the purchasing policy that incorporates consideration of suppliers that use packaging made from renewable resources rather than non-renewable resources.  Modify the section in the sustainability Policy and Procedures document based on your
